Alright, you peeps were so encouraging with my last vlog, I decided to try again. I think I got the lighting better this time, and you won’t want to miss an appearance by a very special guest…

In case you don’t have time to watch, here’s my question for you: Where in your state (or region of the country if you don’t want to name your state) is your favorite place to visit?
Happy Friday!
I like to head to the beach. Or we also like to hike near this one waterfall.
~ Wendy
I adore waterfalls. The powerful sound of rushing water…sigh. I adore the beach too…wish we had one nearby!
You look great! The lighting is much better…softer. Great job!
I think Sedona is my favorite place in AZ. I haven't really visited enough places in Arizona. We need to get out and tour AZ more! Been down the Grand Canyon twice. I'd love to go down again and do one of the lodges in the Canyon.
When we lived in NC, the beach was my favorite spot!!
Happy Friday!
Thanks! I'm glad the lighting worked out.
And I totally agree…roadtrip! 😛
You asked the right question! I love to write about things to do and places to see in Arizona! Of course, we have the big tourist attractions–which are fabulous–obviously, the Grand Canyon, and Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon region, Prescott, Jerome, Flagstaff, the White Mountains/Mogollon Rim area. But, my favorite places are off the beaten path. Kartchner Caverns a few miles south of Benson in Cochise County is a must-see–a beautiful living cave kept as natural and pristine as possible. It's breath-taking! Another of my favorite day trips is driving up Mount Graham in the Pinaleno Mountains near Safford. The mountain road, paved all but the last 12 miles and in good condition, climbs about 5000 feet from the valley floor, although the mountain itself is over 10,000 ft in elevation. Along the way, a traveler will pass through five botanical zones each with distinct vegetation and animal habitats. Many hiking trails and picnic/camping areas are scattered along the drive. The reward for the trip is reaching Riggs Flatt Lake. Whether enjoying a hike and a picnic, a day of fishing, or a weekend of camping, Riggs Lake is a perfect tranquil spot for getting away from it all and leaving your cares behind.
Wow, that's so cool, Sara! I haven't been to most of these places…haven't even heard of some of them. Shame on me! I love hiking and picnics. I'll have to try some of these places. Thanks so much for the suggestions.
Cute vlog! Love it!
I love to visit farms in Iowa. We don't have tons in the way of tourist attractions around here, but we have so many pretty spots. Both the east and west sides of the state are hilly and green and beautiful. And yeah, as much as I love traveling, as much as I loved my studies in London, as much as I'm hoping for another chance to traipse around Europe someday, at heart I'm a homegirl who loves cornfields and hay mows and creeks. 🙂
I've never been to Iowa or real cornfields. Can I come visit you? 😛 Sounds really peaceful and lovely.
My husband and I are birders, so we love to visit the amazing birding areas in Arizona. Our state is actually number 3 in the country for fabulous birding; California and Texas are first and second, respectively. Great birding places in Arizona are: the Southeast corner – especially Ramsey and Madara Canyons and the surrounding areas such as Sonoita; Hassayampa River Preserve – just outside Phoenix by about a 25 minute drive; Page Springs – the area around the fish hatcheries; Prescott around the lakes, and finally, Flagstaff on San Fransisco Peak. If I had to choose just one town, it might be Flagstaff itself, in the summer. To stroll around the town on a Friday night when all the shops are open, musicians are performing in the streets, and oregano from a local restaurant is wafting in the air – ah…that is heavenly! 🙂
Ooo, that DOES sound heavenly. And I had no idea Arizona was such a birders' paradise! Sweet!
Ah! How adorable are you!!! I can't seem to get my lighting right. Any tips? Email me!
I live in Memphis area so naturally I head down to Beale Street for yummy BBQ and Blues! I have been to the Elvis vigil and it's CRAZY! Middle aged women sobbing, impersonators galore! CA-RAZY! I only live about 20 minutes from Graceland! LOL
Ooo, Southern BBQ. That's one thing I have yet to experience!
I'll email you tips sometime this weekend. I don't have that many, but I'll tell you what I did. 🙂
It's so fun putting your name and face to your voice. 🙂 And hello adorable kitty! I miss my cat. She was such a sweetheart.
Anyway, Sedona sounds breathtaking!
I live in Michigan and I have so many places I love here. The number one pick is the shore of Lake Michigan. White sands, dunes for miles–it's gorgeous! We love Holland for the fun shopping, yummy ice cream stands, and array of beaches. 🙂
Another awesome, awesome place is Mackinaw Island. It's betweent he upper and lower peninsula. You have to take a ferry to get there, and it's vehicle free! So cute! There are horses and bicycles, tons of fudge, great shopping, adorable Victorian homes, even a Fort! You can bike around the whole island too, which we always do. It's one of the best places ever.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Yes, my cat is such an attention hog. LOL
And oh my goodness, those places both sound amazing! I've never been to Michigan. All of these places are going on my TBV (to be visited…I just sort of made that up!) list.
I don't live as close to it anymore, but I used to love going to the coast of Lake Michigan, especially in northern Michigan. So beautiful!
That DOES sound amazing, Sarah. I'm not sure what it is, but I love bodies of water in general. 😛
I had to laugh when you said you've only been to the Grand Canyon once! It reminds me of when I lived in Miami for three years… I think the only time we went to the beach was when people visited. They couldn't get over the fact that we (husband & me) didn't go there all the time (the beach is just not my thing).
Anyhow.. I can spend days and weeks traveling from the suburbs to Chicago and visiting all the museums, the Art Institute, the public libraries, etc. and just walking around the different ethnic neighborhoods, tasting different foods (Chicago is big on food!). For our 10th anniversary, me & my husband did just that. Best anniversary, evah. But lately, my new fave place to visit is Springfield, IL. I want to spend lots more time touring all of Abe Lincoln's old haunts.
Have a great weekend, Lindsay. 🙂
I love Chicago! I've been there about three times, I think. I love Navy Pier. 🙂 So fun. There is still so much I haven't seen, though!
I enjoyed your vlog post, Lindsay, and the visit from your cat. I think it's interesting that you live in Arizona and have only visited the Grand Canyon once. I live in California, and yet I've been there twice. Once as a young child and once about 10 years ago. It's certainly impressive.
I'm a native Californian and have spent most of my life living in the Golden State. We have such variety: miles of sandy ocean beaches, blazing hot desert, fertile valleys, rolling foothills, lush forests, and majestic mountains. We've got huge cities, small towns, and Gold Rush-era ghost towns. We've got man-made marvels such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Hearst Castle, and Disneyland along with natural wonders like the magnificent redwoods, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe.
And my favorite place? My little town of Placerville, which is located halfway between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. I love where I live. Having moved more times than I like to remember before I was 30, I love finally having a place to call home. There's lots of history here. I live less than 10 miles from Coloma, where James Marshall discovered that nugget that sparked the Gold Rush and only an hour from South Lake Tahoe, which is one of my favorite destinations. Call me content, and you'd be right. =)
Aw, Keli, that is so neat! There really is no place like home, right?
Cute vlog, Lindsay! I like how you've flipped the cliche. We live in the mountains of California and just happen to be surrounded by San Diego, Hollywood, and Palm Springs. But my favorite place to go is a tiny town called Oak Glen. It's a quaint little place of apple orchards, berry patches and quaint shops. Just a country girl at heart =)
Thanks, Joanne! Wow, that place sounds so amazing. And only one state over from me…hmmm…I may have to visit it someday! I love Cali.
